A Fruitful Springtime of Community by Jaime and Juliana

21 Dec 2019 - by Jaime Howell, Juliana Griese

Excerpts from A Fruitful Spring Time Of Community… The Immeasurable School in Brazil by Jaime Howell and Juliana Griese

“My wish is that more young people have the opportunity to be supported and uplifted by this type of work. It is good medicine for our whole world.” Kushla 2019 Participant

Here you find yourself on the threshold of mingling with a story. We think this is a good story to know and share. It is about young people finding refuge in a contemporary way, wrestling the questions of how to live well on an arguably troubled earth.

The Immeasurable School is supporting capable, creative, compassionate, confident young beings with standing and voice. During our time in Brazil we danced and cried as we were stretched to include it all in the embrace of love, clear seeing and patience. It was wonderfully fresh and enlivening to leave the shore of the known and journey into the heart of dharma in this foreign land.

What is the school about? Why Brazil? Who came? What did we do? What are the outcomes through the voices of the participants? What next?

I’m leaving this school with a felt sense understanding of belonging within life, a sense on how to live and commune well in the world, a confidence on how to face the challenges of our time, an aspiration of meeting everything with kindness and interest. A deeper appreciation for life and friends on the path – Julian Schwob 2019 participant

Jaime is a trained Wilderness Rites of Passage guide, Work That Reconnects facilitator and experienced teacher of Open Floor movement practice. He is the founder of the Centre for the Great Turning, a movement inspired by Joanna Macy, Bill Plotkin, Tarchin Hearn and many more.

Jaime is passionate to develop maps and inquiries that support the flowering of human creativity, wisdom and care for the generations of all life to come. He supports humans to awaken their ecological self, the innate sense of belonging to the natural world. Jaime has a Masters Degree in Education, he is a wild poet, a student of mythology and holds a mean blues guitar. He lives in the knowing of what it takes to live in a community aspiring to wake up. A friend to shadow, bruised and bumped with a heart still open. A recent new father and peaceful warrior to bring the right kind of trouble to a world waking up.

I’ve been exploring and sharing progressively since 2007, meditation (mindfulness). I was trained as a Mindfulness Instructor in Brazil. In 2016, I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue and an autoimmune disease and realized that my relationship with food, eating and my body was full of struggling and masking something deeper that I needed to address. Mindfulness, a lot of inquiries and studies helped me a lot. It became my path for awakening and I believe that through exploring this with a community is part of my growth and healing.
